How do I know Peak Pro Fitness is for me?
Not sure if training with us is the right fit? No worries, pop over to the About Me page and have a read, if you feel working with Tim is something you’d love to do then get it touch, book a consultation or book onto a workshop, if you’re not sure then jump onto one of our free workshops and come and see how we do things. If you know it’s not right for you then that’s totally cool too. We hope that you find the site useful and informative and if you ever have any questions, feel free to get in touch! :0)
What makes you different from other PT’s/Coaches?
If I had to boil it down to one paragraph it would be this:
“I think, the reasons behind why I do what I do, stem completely from a desire to learn; a fascination with how the body works and moves; and undoubtedly a passion for being outdoors, for being surrounded by nature and mountains. Then of course, the fact that it feels totally natural for me to take that information and learning and pass it on to someone else who will benefit.”
Where will the Workshops, Consultations and Sessions be held?
Check out the Workshop Timetable for a list of up coming workshops and the location of each. When you book your Consultation or Sessions, Tim will confirm venue with you depending on your individual training needs.
What’s the difference between attending a Workshop and having a Consultation?
Depending on the Workshop you choose and the topics being covered, the workshops will have 5-8 people on and will be 90 minutes in length. They are a great way to find out some really cool information and apply it directly into your training with hands on guidance from Tim. Think of this as a great way to meet Tim and get a feel/taste of how Tim can help you move better, train smarter and achieve more, plus it’s an awesome way to meet some likeminded people with similar issues/interests.
The Consultation, on the other hand is a great opportunity to get some 1:1 time with Tim, they typically last 30-60 minutes and in this time you will be able to talk about everything (training/injury wise) that has got you to this point, where you want to go and what you want to achieve next. This is also where, if needed, Tim will do any assessments necessary to figure out what is going on with any injuries or imbalances within your body.
If you’re not sure which is best for you, check out the Workshop Timetable, pick one you like the sound of and book yourself on. If on the other hand, you feel some 1:1 time would be the best option, book yourself in for a Consultation :0)
Is there anything in particular I need to bring with me? What should I wear? Will I need to take any notes?
If you are coming to a Workshop, then obviously bring yourself, wear what you would normally wear to climb/train in as the workshop will be fairly active. On some workshops Tim will provide notes for the session but if you would like to bring a notepad and pen, iPhone or iPad to take pictures or videos of exercises & make any notes then please feel free!
If you are coming to a Consultation / Assessment, then just bring yourself and some training kit as Tim will need to do which ever tests are necessary so appropriate clothing is a must. If you are having a Wall Based Movement Assessment then make sure to bring your climbing shoes and chalk bag too!
For Sessions, appropriate training kit is again a must, water bottle is generally a good idea, and the majority of notes will be handled for you. If however you feel having a memory jogger is worthwhile bring along pen and paper, iPhone or iPad to take any pictures/videos/make notes as you please.
What will happen in my first session?
As each program is tailored to a specific set of needs, what happens in your first session will vary slightly. Any assessments that weren’t covered during your consultation will be completed, as will any other paperwork (Physical Activity Questionnaire, Performance Profile etc). You will then start to go through the specifics of your package:
Recover from Injury:
As part of the consultation Tim will show you a couple of areas of Self Massage you can start on to get you moving, your first session will develop this and show you any other areas of Self Massage you need to be doing as part of your treatment plan. You will then start to look at key areas of Banded Distraction & Flexibility work to support your treatment plan.
Movement, Function, Movement:
Depending on which option you choose you will either run through the first session of your Mobility Plan and cover key areas of Mobility and Flexibility for you to be working on or you will have your first Sports Massage Therapy Treatment. Tim will also show you how to access the Movement Multivitamin videos.
Training to Train:
First off, Tim will show you key areas of self massage and flexibility you need to be doing at the start and end of your session (Your Mobility Plan), Tim will then run you through how to access any FMS & Red Flag Clearance and Movement Multivitamin videos so you are all set up to go. The remainder of the session will be running through these exercises so you are happy with where to start!
Do I need to be a member of a gym? Will I need to buy any equipment?
If you are already a member of a gym or thinking about joining one then that’s great, but having a gym membership is not essential. The facilities that you will be working with Tim in will have all the kit you need to perform the activities and tasks to help you reach your goals. You will most likely be given some ‘homework’ to do to help you recover from injury or reach your training and movement goals quicker and easier but these exercises are designed for you to be able to do either at home, the local climbing wall or your current gym or training facility.
In some cases, Tim may suggest that buying some small items of kit would be beneficial to helping you recover from injury or help you reach your training and movement goals that much faster. In which case, Tim will either supply them for you or let you know the best and cheapest places to go and get them from. For example, lots of Tim’s current clients find having their own mobility kit (foam roller, tennis ball, golf ball, resistance band) comes in really useful to recover from and prevent injury, and keep training hard on a day to day basis.
Will I have to stop climbing, running or training if I’m on a program or having treatment?
98% of the time, no. First and foremost, the reason you will most likely be seeing Tim in the first place is so that you can either get back to what you love, continue to do it or get better at it so why stop you from doing it when that’s not a happy place to be in? In most cases, your sessions with Tim will compliment everything else. If there is a specific warm up you need to do, some exercises to help you recover etc then Tim will show you how to structure your sessions to include these elements and make the time doing the things you love, get you to your goals that much quicker and easier.
In the 2% of cases, Tim may get you to reduce or limit the amount of climbing, running or training you are doing. If this is the case, then there will be specific reasons to do so and Tim will fully explain the reasons why, and make sure that the things you are doing, get you back to climbing, running and/or training as soon as possible and in a much better and stronger position too.
How many sessions will I need?
Number of sessions can depend on a number of things, during your consultation and assessment you will discuss and agree the number of sessions relevant to you and your training goals. Each of our packages has a set number of sessions which Tim has found help his clients reach their goals the quickest and easiest and give the best value for money.
How long will each session last?
Each session will typically last for 60 minutes. In some cases Tim may get you to arrive before the session start time to warm up and do some specific exercises relevant to your training goals, or you may need to stay slightly longer to cool down and stretch. In other cases, staying around and having a chat and a brew is also a good thing! :0)
Will I have to complete my sessions by a certain point?
Yes, we set a use by date on all sessions to help keep you accountable and achieving the best results in the shortest time possible. As such all sessions must be used within 3 months of the payment date.
If I need any Sports Massage Therapy will it hurt?
Sports Massage doesn’t necessarily have to hurt. In some cases, it can be quite tender and bruising can occur, especially if there are a lot of toxins and tension built up in the muscles and surrounding tissues. Some people actually love the feel of a good sports massage or in the very least the feeling they get after all the rubbish has been flushed out and they can get back to what they love doing! In either case, Tim will use a variety of massage techniques to get the most release out of your body, causing the least pain possible.
What if I start a program but I’m not 100% happy?
That’s cool, because we want you to be 100% happy and committed to the programs, if by the end of the first 30 days of your program, you’re not 100% satisfied, we’ll give you all of your money back. No questions asked.
Everything sounds great, but I’m not sure which program is right for me?
Awesome, the right program for you will depend on exactly what you want to achieve, remember each of our programs are designed with a specific goal in mind so check out the program profiles to see which one fits you right now.
