climb harder

“Arrgh! It’s so frustrating I can’t achieve the next grade. I know I’m good enough, but I just can’t figure it out. What do I need to do? I’ve been working so hard for ages now. I just feel fed up of doing the same thing, I’ve done all the climbs I think I can, I just get spat off all the rest!”

Where you’re at:

You’ve been climbing for a while now and natural ability has got you this far but now something seems to be holding you back. You feel you are an intermediate climber and are looking to really start progressing your climbing. You tend to do the same thing when you come to the wall and have not really trained in a structured way before. You find it frustrating when you can’t figure out what to do or when those moves just feel impossible. You want some direction and accountability to help you achieve your goals.

What your issues tend to be:

  • You really want to get better but have no idea where to start.

  • You struggle with awkward moves and hand holds.

  • You’re not sure which are the right techniques to use and feel it limits your climbing.

  • You are taking more attempts than you want to complete a climb, and feel you should be doing them quicker.

  • You are scared to try hard, or maybe not sure what it feels like to actually try hard.

  • You are afraid to push yourself on scary or sketchy moves and need the confidence of others to help you do it.

  • You worry that if you start training it will become boring and you won’t enjoy climbing anymore.

  • You’ve got a trip coming up and would love to get that big tick. .

What you need help with right now:

  • Someone to help you identify a clear goal and to help you work towards achieving it.

  • Someone to give you assurance that the techniques you know are good enough, and to show you any that you need to help you make the next step.

  • Building your technical and tactical toolkit so you can continue to climb with independence.

  • Increased confidence in your ability when climbing, allowing you to fall off and just get up and get back on.

  • A training plan that is specific to you and your goals, making sure you are doing the right things, giving you direction with your training and making sure you can fit everything in with a busy schedule.

  • 1:1 guidance and correction to hold you accountable and keep you on track to achieve your goals.

  • Session notes typed up and emailed to you with pictures of each exercise, making sure you don’t forget and making life as easy as 1, 2, 3.
